I am starting to teach the kids Away in a Manger. The kids seem to do great when we are doing fun pick and choose songs, but when we are LEARNING a song...especially a reverent song, I have trouble getting participation...Any ideas on how to encourage participation and good singing while maintaining an atmosphere of reverence.

I have noticed that no one uses these boards, but I'm going to respond to this anyway because I am looking for ideas (and don't know what the Yahoo! board is that I've seen referenced.)
One primary chorister did a really fun reverence visual for "The Chapel Doors". She got a large poster board and folded in each end so that they touched in the middle. She drew a door on each side to look like the real chapel doors. The children sang the first few lines. She opened the doors and there was a picture of a calendar (Sabbath Day), the Savior, and a child praying. Then she closed the doors again and we sang the last line. They learned it in a few minutes and continued to ask to sing that song so they could open the chapel doors.
