Hi all! I was just wondering about how much time you get each week for singing time. We do sharing time first, and more than once I've been left with 2 minutes! not kidding. I finally spoke to my primary president and it's gotten better, but only 10 minutes usually now. It doesn't seem like enough time, but how much time do you have?

I get about 20. We have 10 minutes to get everyone into the primary room after sacrament meeting. A couple of minutes before Primary starts, I sing a reverence song with them. We have 15 minutes for opening exercises, including the time it takes to dismiss Senior Primary. I go first, have 20 minutes for Singing time and there is still 20 minutes for sharing time. Then there are about 5 minutes to transition Senior to Primary and Junior to their classes. Then 20 minutes for singing time and 20 minutes for sharing time. That was long and complicated, but it seems to me that even if sacrament runs over or something, you should have a solid 15 minutes. Maybe you could ask to go first, sing birthdays once a month instead of every week, and if sacrament meeting or opening exercises runs over, ask to split the remaining time with the person doing sharing time. I hope that helps.

We end our meeting block with singing time followed by sharing time, and we each get 20 minutes. Although I occasionally go over by a couple of minutes, the Presidency has always been very supportive of me taking the time I need.

I had to answer that question since I just clarified it with Sis. Land yesterday. We had a discussion about using the 5th Sunday for a music review sharing time. She did not like that at all - she wanted the schedule to remain intact with a sharing time lesson taught by a member of the primary presidency. And strongly advocated that this would not be necessary as the presidencies should be assuring 15-20 minutes per Sunday for SINGING!

We are supposed to get 20 minutes, I'm told. When that didn't seem to be happening (5-10 min maybe) I spoke with the presidency and came up with this. While the kids are coming in we sing a wiggle song and reverence song. I often choose a reverence song that is a review from earlier in the year. This gives the presidency time to set up, gives me a little extra signing/review, and moves things along faster since the wiggle & reverence songs have already been done. Since, I have had 20+ every week.
