Anyone have any bright ideas about introducing/teaching this song? I am completely stumped!

Yes, look in the January 2010 "Friend", pages, 24-25. It shows how you can make a chart and compare the first and second verses to the past and present. Hope this helps Susan

Our Primary acutally learned this song last year in one of the "choose your own song" months!! What I did was make it just like a story book. I found a picture of Christ with children and put it on the "cover", and put the title & author (who wrote the lyrics). Then, for each page, I had the words and another picture of christ with children. You get the idea. For the 1st Sunday, I gathered all the primary kids up to the front of the room and had them sit in a circle around me (I was in a chair, just like in story time). I read them the story, not telling them it was a song. It went over VERY well!! BTW, the picture I picked for the cover was the same picture I used for the Chorus. Good Luck

I made a karaoke video, with pictures and word. Then, I made another incomplete video, just with some words, for practice.
First I showed the video and sang the song, then, we all together sang, with the karaoke, the first verse. To other sundays, we´ll sing the rest, and we`ll sing with the incomplete video too.

I know this comes in late, but what I've done is to teach the children a few ASL signs to some of the words. I chose the signs that look more like what they mean and are simple to do, such as "long", "beautiful", "children", "tears", "face", etc. It's fun to watch them automatically do the signs when those words come up in other songs, too.

I love that sign language idea...I might just try that.
We have not yet learned the new song because we had a bit of a snafu in January. We will be doing this in May since we already have a song for the "our choice" category.
My question is, how did your children do with singing the song. I know it's a long one, and our primary is very small and most of our children are very young or special needs.
