So I have to share. My stepson, 21, got his mission call on Friday to Nagoya, Japan. He goes into the MTC on May 6th. He lived with us from 16 yo till last year when he got tired for rules and chores and moved out. It was a struggle with him, and we didn't think he'd go, but he is. What a blessing! Stepson's mom is taking him to the MTC and we are going to see him at the airport. Does anyone know if that's OK? Bio-mom said that we couldn't go to the airport, that it's not allowed. When my bro went on his mission 10 yrs ago, we went to the airport to see him off. I'm so excited to go to Utah and maybe do a session in a Temple. SIL is there, so hopefully we can do a session. I love doing sessions in Temples when we travel. That's always the highlight of the trip for me. AND our DS, 2 almost 3, is potty-trained. 5 days! He basically did it himself. Can you believe it?

Our Daughter is at the MTC and leaves for Hong Kong on Monday the 16th. When we dropped her off they said families were NOT to go to the aiport when their children left the MTC and headed out. Sorry for the bad news.

Oh, it's not bad news. We just have to change our thinking and our plans, but that's OK.
And I can understand why. When my brother went, if we wouldn't've gone to the airport he would've been the only one without family there, and I think it would be hard to see everyone else with family there, and you don't have yours. So I can understand why.

I bet they changed a lot of things after 9/11. It isn't like you can even go to the gate anyway and he will have to be there so early for an international flight. Hopefully, you can work something out!
And, do you want to potty train my son? He recently started having "accidents" again and it is seriously driving me insane!!

I left on my mission the day after 9/11 -- and one of the announcements they made that day is that we should write our families and let them know that airport visits are strongly discouraged. It's more difficult now with the security measures ... although I did run into my stake president (who happened to be getting on a flight by our gate), and there were some families that had come anyway. We were given permission to call our parents once we were inside the barriers, and that was nice. Just realized he's already in the MTC, but hopefully you've worked something out to say goodbye to him!
