I enjoyed doing this skit with my YSA son who visited Primary today
and helped me with the puppets. I was impressed by the scripture in
Alma 32:23: Little children do have words given to them that
confound the wise and the learned. I quoted that to the kids and
reminded them that we don't ask them to memorize many things. I
asked them what they memorize and they mentioned the Articles of
Faith, which I agreed to, and then I asked them, "What do I ask you
to memorize?" (The songs) I told them that, like the scripture
says, the words to these songs are given to children. Adults don't
study them in their classes. They are FOR the children, and those
words are given to them to learn how to answer questions like, 'Who
is Jesus?" and "What happens after we die?" When they need these
words, they will come back into their heads if they memorize them
now.
Eddie: (Crying loudly)
Cindy: Eddie, what's the matter?
Eddie: Why aren't you in class?
Cindy: The teacher told me to come out here and see if I could help
you feel better. What's the matter?
Eddie: My grandpa died and I don't know if I'll ever see him again.
People tell me he's in Heaven, and I don't know how much money it
costs to fly to Heaven.
Cindy: You can't fly in an airplane to Heaven. Heaven isn't on
Earth—it's where Heavenly Father lives.
Eddie: I don't know about Heaven or Heavenly Father.
Primary Leader: Let's help Cindy tell Eddie about Heaven and
Heavenly Father.(Sings First verse of I Lived in Heaven with
everyone.)
Eddie: E-eternal WHAT?
Cindy: Eternal salvation. That's the name for Heavenly Father and
Jesus' plan to help us go back home to Heaven after we die.
Eddie: Who is Jesus? Is he the same person as Heavenly Father?
Cindy: No, Jesus is Heavenly Father's Son and He is the One who will
take us back to Heavenly Father when we die. I bet Jesus took your
Grandpa to Heaven.
Music Leader: Do you think that Jesus took Eddie's Grandpa to Heaven
when he died? Let's help Cindy tell Eddie more about Jesus and what
He did for us. (Sings 2nd and 3rd verse of I Lived in Heaven with
everyone.)
Eddie: How did you learn all of this, Cindy? Did you stay after
school to learn it?
Cindy: No, I learn this in church and I talk about it with my
family, too. I know you must feel sad about your Grandpa because I
love MY family, too.
Music Leader: (Everyone sings 1st verse of Families Can Be Together
Forever.)
Eddie: Families can be together forever through Heavenly Father's
plan! I like that, but—How do you know it's true, Cindy? Do you
really know?
Music Leader: (Sings I Know My Father Lives with everyone/I Know He
Lives)
Cindy: Eddie, I know that when I pray I can feel that Heavenly
Father loves me. I am His child—I am a child of God.
Music Leader: (sings 1st verse of I Am A Child of God, Eddie joins in
the chorus.)
Eddie: I feel better already. Will you tell me again sometime MORE
about Heavenly Father's plan?
Cindy: SURE!
Alma 32:23
And this is not all: Little children do have words given to them
that confound the wise and the learned.
